Stickers on cars

I saw a type of bumber sticker today that was new to my eyes: An "RIP". Over a nicely desinged cross, I could read:
"Rest in Peace
John Smith" (or some name)
And some other text beneath that too small to read.
I don't advertise like this on my car, but I do understand the desire to display signage. What the hell is an obituary on the bumper of a Hyundai supposed to accomplish? People never cease to confuse me.

I don't get that, either. I also don't understand the people who feel a need to stick vinyl, cartoonish effigies of their family on their car. Have you seen those?

Hmmmm...I've not seen the cartoon familes.
The other one that confuses me is the collection of beach stickers. Why don't they just take the expired ones off when they put the new one on?
