Radiohead In_Rainbows

I've been listening to my freshly downloaded Radiohead album. New album day is a great thing with your favorite band.
In the old days (pre-Radiohead) I would know a new album was coming out because I heard the single on the radio. Usually, a single would get airplay before the tour and before the album was in the stores. After playing the song, the DJ would then give the latest scoop on the release date and the possible local tour date. I would then beg my parents or older sibling to take me to "Waxie Maxies" at the mall, where I would shell out some allowance money for the vinyl. Then I would have to wait to hear it as we drove home and I removed the shrink wrap from my treasure. I'd go into my room, close the door, put that baby on the turntable. Through all the lead-up I would hope against hope that the music wouldn't suck. Sometimes it did suck, and sometimes (especially if I wanted bad enough for it to be great) it would feel very very good. Repeated listens would solidify my opinion of the tunes. Contrast that to this modern music world....
Last Spring, I learned via the internet that Radiohead would be touring with new songs on an unrecorded next album. I heard some of the new songs for the first time live. They were a bit rough, but the main melodies and riffs were there. I wanted to like them, and did. I downloaded a bootleg of the show and listened to it off and on during the last year. Again, it sounded a bit rough but I liked the way the music made me feel. The lyrics were nearly unintelligible, but the feeling was very nice. Yesterday they released the MP3 version of this album, which I was able to download and burn to disc in about ten minutes. I paid what I wanted to pay for it (in my case 4 GBP, roughly 8.25USD). This morning I was able to listen to the latest album by my favorite band. It is different, but it is still new album day. That's cool.
Normally I listen to a new disc a few times through paying little attention to the lyrics. If it feels good, I will keep spinning it. Repeatedly. If I keep digging I will find myself pushing the volume up. When I get to the point of volume where my sound equipment or my ears are not working well, I'll push it down a bit and I've found the optimal volume level.
This disc feels good. Real good. Probably as good as Kid A when I first heard it and I still dig that one a lot. At this point, I don't even know what the songs are about, but the feel is there. I've not read any reviews (professional or amatuer) of the music itself, but have read bit about what this new method of release will mean to the music business. I want to feel it for myself for a bit. I don't want someone else's opinion or feel to clutter up my neurons.
